There is a story behind my e-ring. Originally when we were engaged almost 3 years ago, FI gave me a beautiful ring with a heart-shaped diamond. A little bit before the holidays in 2009, I had weird accident at a local grocery with a cart that ended with my finger being sprained and a prong being bent on my ring. I knew I would need to have the jeweler look at it, but I had no idea the prong was as loose as it was until I looked down a day later and my diamond was gone! I looked high and low for it, but it was gone. That ring is very special to me and luckily, I still have the band and hope to have it re-set with a new stone at some point. Currently I wear the eternity band that matched that ring as my "e-ring", and FI has purchased this band to give me on our wedding day.
